(1) BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. recalled some domestic Brilliance BMW 320i, 325i, 320Li, 328Li, 335Li and X1 vehicles produced between January 2, 2012 and December 26, 2012, for a total of 3,926 vehicles;
(2) BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. recalls some imported BMWs 120i, 130i, 320i, 325i, 330i, 335i, X1, X5, X6, M3 produced between January 2, 2012 and December 22, 2012. And M6 vehicles, a total of 37,759 vehicles.
The airbag of the vehicle in this recall range is equipped with an ammonium nitrate gas generator without a desiccant produced by Takada. When the airbag is deployed, the gas generator of the above airbag may be abnormally damaged, causing debris to fly out and injuring the inside of the vehicle, posing a safety hazard. BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. will replace the airbag gas generators of the vehicles involved in the recall for free to eliminate safety hazards. (Note: For X5 and X6 vehicles, the front airbags for the driver and front passengers are involved; for other vehicle types, the driver's front airbag is involved.)
The recall was carried out under the circumstances of the AQSIQ initiated defect investigation. Since June 2014, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has conducted a defect investigation on the rupture of the high-altitude airbag gas generator, and issued a safety warning for the Takada airbag. Affected by the investigation, BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. decided to take recall measures to eliminate potential safety hazards.
BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. will notify customers by registered mail. After the official start of the recall, authorized BMW dealers will contact the relevant owners to arrange the recall. Users can call the BMW Service Hotline at 400-800-6666 for consultation.
