Berge Bulk: Do not believe in eco-boat speculation

According to reports, James Marshall, CEO of Singapore-based company Berge Bulk, has recently strongly criticized the environmental protection ship booking boom, reminding shipowners to be alert to the so-called energy-saving claims of shipyards. He believes that the shipyard actually exaggerated the energy-saving effect of environmentally friendly ships, especially large-scale environmentally friendly ships.

According to Marshall, the best performer of Berge Bulk's fleet is the ultra-large ore carrier (VLOC) "Berge Stahl", which is 27 years old and more energy efficient than any other new ship that has just been delivered. This is not only because of the larger size of the ship, but also because the ship was built during periods of high fuel prices.

Marshall is very optimistic about the bulk market. He said that the current Capesize bulk carrier freight rate is bullish and the market outlook is optimistic in the next few years. However, in 2016, 2017 and 2018, the Capesize bulk carrier market may gradually decline, as shipowners place orders for a large number of new ships.

In the past few years, Berge Bulk has been actively ordering new ships and buying used boats. The company's fleet currently has 35 vessels.
