Yang Chuantang pointed out that since the beginning of this year, in the face of intricate domestic and international situations, the transportation industry has continuously deepened reforms, further released market dynamism, accelerated the transfer of methods, adjusted the structure, promoted the steady improvement of the development quality, and basically achieved a healthy and sustainable development of the industry.

According to statistics, in the first three quarters of this year, the transportation economy maintained a reasonable range, and some indicators showed positive changes, but they still faced a large downward pressure. Railways, highways, and waterways completed a total of 16.41 billion passenger and cargo shipments and 31.5 billion tons, an increase of 3.2% and 7.7% year-on-year, respectively. The passenger transportation structure was optimized, and the growth of freight rates stabilized. Demand for key cargoes was sluggish, and the growth rate of port foreign trade cargo throughput fell. Railways, highways, and waterways completed investment in fixed assets of 164.12 billion yuan, an increase of 15.0% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 6.6 percentage points higher than that of the same period of last year. The effect of steady growth policies was obvious. The freight rates of highways and waterways continued to slump, and the express delivery business maintained rapid growth. In the first 8 months, the general empty freight rate of general cargo vehicles dropped by 0.8 percentage points year-on-year, and the marine cargo ship's unit consumption per kiloton decreased by 14.2% year-on-year, making progress in the construction of “green traffic”. The safe production situation is not optimistic.

Yang Chuantang emphasized that there are favorable conditions as well as unfavorable factors in the economic operation of transportation. The economic situation must be scientifically judged, the problems existing in the operation of the industry and the accumulated risks must be highly valued, and the initiative in transport economic work should be firmly grasped, with a focus on four aspects. jobs.
