On the afternoon of March 9, Yang Chuantang, Minister of Communications, responded to the issue of congestion charges on the ministerial channel of the Great Hall of the People.
"There are countries in the world that have adopted this measure, and some provinces and cities have also put forward their opinions." Yang Chuantang said that he has a positive attitude toward the measures taken from the actual situation. Because the main responsibility of public transportation is the city, not the ministry or the national level, “the situation is different and the measures are different”, but all localities can find a situation that suits them.
Yang Chuantang said that although the traffic was somewhat blocked, it could not block the hearts of the people.
He also introduced that the Ministry of Communications will alleviate traffic congestion by prioritizing the development of public transportation, strengthening planning, developing smart transportation, and coordinating various modes of transportation.
