China's automobile ESP system installation rate will increase 3 times in the next five years

On October 15, Bosch Group, an internationally renowned manufacturer of automotive parts and power tools, celebrated the 100th anniversary of Bosch's business in China in Beijing. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bosch Group, Mr. Franz Fehrenbach, made a special trip from Germany to celebrate. He stated that Bosch has gained tremendous benefits in China's stable environment and is confident that Bosch will develop in China in the future.

Mr. Fehrenbach has noted that the Asian and Chinese markets today are particularly demanding for innovative technologies that increase safety and comfort, conserve resources, and protect the environment. In 2009, Bosch's active safety survey showed that vehicle safety has become an important factor for Chinese car buyers. The Bosch-made and ESP electronic stability programs in China have become the first choice for local vehicle manufacturers. As of the third quarter of 2009, Bosch's Suzhou plant has produced one million systems, creating yet another record of annual production. Fehrenbach said that the contribution of ESP's electronic stability program to road safety has been recognized by many national governments, and legislation has forced the installation of ESP electronic stability procedures for new vehicles in the coming years. He predicts that in China, the ESP installation rate is expected to increase exponentially, from 7% this year to 22% in 2014.

Bosch said that it will also work closely with Chinese companies in the field of new energy vehicles. By the end of 2009, about 35 engineers will work in the electric drive and hybrid business unit of the joint venture of Bosch and SAIC Motor Co., Ltd. In the near future, the number of engineers will increase to about 100. In 2009, Bosch invested approximately 160 million euros in China, especially investing in future-oriented renewable energy and powertrain electrification technologies.
