LG starts construction of electric vehicle parts in October

According to the Korea Daily Economic News, LG will start production of electric vehicle components from October this year.

LG's electric vehicle parts production base Waynes Incheon Plant is located in the Incheon West Industrial Zone in South Korea. It is equipped with an R&D center and an electric automobile parts production plant. Parts to be produced include electric vehicle battery packs, inverters, and chargers. And cooling system components. The production base is expected to start construction in October this year.

LG Chemicals, a subsidiary of LG Group, is a supplier of batteries for General Motors Chevrolet Volenda and Opel Ampera. It plans to supply lithium polymer batteries to General Motors until 2015.

In August last year, LG had a cooperation agreement with General Motors and the two companies will jointly develop the next generation of electric vehicles. According to the agreement, LG will provide GM with core components for electric vehicles. Therefore, starting in September last year, LG's Waynes began to build electric vehicle parts production plants and R&D centers in the Incheon West Industrial Park in South Korea.
