Guangfeng Engine Company starts to produce new engine

Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. announced that from October onwards, Guangzhou Automobile Engine Co., Ltd. (GTE) will produce a new inline 4-cylinder engine (AR engine).

There are three types of AR engines, including 2.5L, 2.7L and 2.5L hybrid vehicle engines. Among them, the new Camry CAMRY, which is newly launched and marketed recently, will be equipped with a 2.5L engine. The AR engine is the result of Toyota's advanced technology. Although the exhaust gas volume is increased, it still maintains an excellent fuel consumption level. At the same time, the maximum output power is improved, and the exhaust gas is cleaner and the sound effect is better. In addition, with the commissioning of the AR engine, GTE will invest an additional $96 million.

Established in 2004, GTE is built in Nansha Economic Development Zone, Guangzhou, with an area of ​​approximately 310,000 square meters, a registered capital of 240 million U.S. dollars, an investment of 492 million U.S. dollars and an annual production capacity of 500,000 U.S. dollars. The proportion of investment in the joint venture is: Toyota 70%, of which Toyota Motor Corporation accounted for 57.6%, Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. accounted for 12.4%; GAC accounted for 30%.

GTE is Toyota's engine and parts supply base in China. It began production in 2005. As of 2009, the cumulative production reached 1 million units, mainly producing AZ engines (2.0L, 2.4L, 2.4HV) and other engine components. After the AR engine is put into operation, GTE will mainly produce AZ engines (2.0L, 2.4L, and 2.4L for hybrid vehicles), AR engines (for 2.5L, 2.7L, and 2.5L hybrid vehicles) and other engine components.
