MAN will launch D7 high speed diesel engine
It is reported that in order to fill the gap between the smallest medium-speed Diesel Engine and the largest high-speed diesel engine, MAN Diesel and Turbo will launch the D7 high-speed diesel engine. At speeds of 1000-2000 rpm, the output power is 1.5-5 megawatts. The D7 high-speed diesel engine is designed to provide a variety of uses. The machine sets new standards for fuel economy, power/weight ratio and overhaul interval.
The D7 high-speed diesel engine features rugged construction, high efficiency, compact structure and high strength. The target markets for the aircraft are tugboats, workboats, maritime service vessels and marine supply vessels, naval patrol boats, superyachts and fast ferries. It will also be used in non-ship markets such as offshore, onshore power generation and railways. MAN will also introduce natural gas powered engines for certain applications.
MAN provides users with engines that will include gearboxes, propellers, switchboards, auxiliary generator sets and energy storage solutions. It is reported that from 2014, users can order D7 high-speed diesel engines.
