Polls show 37.0% of young people have contractual traps

Last week, a survey of 12,173 people by the China Youth Daily Social Survey Center through the Survey of Customer Says revealed that nearly 40% of young people (37.0%) had ever encountered a contractual trap and made clear that 52.4% of them did not experience it. 10.6% of people said that it is not clear if they do not know what they are experiencing. Among the respondents, "post-80s" accounted for 59.7%, and "post-70s" accounted for 23.0%.

Internet trading, television shopping, and buying a house into the three major areas of contract pitfalls easily accounted for 52.4%, 40.2% and 33.8%.

Other areas that are likely to encounter pitfalls are: membership cards, website services, travel, renting, purchasing large consumer goods, purchasing financial products, education and training, applying for credit cards, medical care, employment, and internships.

What are the performance of contract traps? 67.1% of people think that it is "fraud and mislead the consumer"; 66.7% of people choose to "deliberately conceal and disregard the right of consumers to know"; 55.7% of people said that it was "oral promise, and later did not honor"; there are 49.5% People think it is a "overlord clause."

The survey found that young people's contract awareness is awakening. In regards to the attitude toward the contract, 48.3% of the people “take care of the general meeting”, 35.5% of the people “will sometimes” take it seriously, and 11.3% of people “are not very likely to”, and only 1.6% say “not”.

When asked what to do when encountering contract traps, more than half (51.8%) of youths will complain to consumer associations; 48.6% will deal with businesses; 40.4% will be exposed on the Internet; and 36.6% will refer to related administrations. Competent authorities complain; 34.3% of people will be exposed in the media; 24.5% will ask the arbitration department for arbitration; 22.6% will file a lawsuit in court. Only 13.6% of people said "tolerance".

For how to reduce the contract trap, 67.7% of young people believe that consumers should strengthen the sense of contract; 65.8% expect that the relevant parties will strengthen supervision; 55.9% of people say that the media should expose the areas and companies that have contract fraud; 54.6% The people suggested that a sound information assessment system be established; 47.7% of people said that they should strengthen the normative practice of trade associations; 42.1% believed that businesses should strengthen self-discipline.
