In October this year, the water-cooled magnet developed by the Strong Magnetic Field Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was successfully debugged separately. It can generate a steady-state magnetic field of 300,000 Gauss. Later, in early November, a large-scale high-field superconducting magnet with a low-temperature diameter of 920 mm was successfully debugged. It produces a steady-state magnetic field of 100,000 Gauss. On the 13th of this month, the two magnets successfully completed the joint, so that the two magnets can generate a stable magnetic field of 400,000 Gauss in total. This data ranks second in the current global steady-state magnetic field device.

Zhai Guangli, director of the Center for Strong Magnetic Fields of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, pointed out that "the higher the magnetic field strength, the greater the change in its material properties. The higher the intensity, the greater the chance of discovering new laws and new phenomena, so scientists are pursuing higher Magnetic field."

The strong magnetic field device is an important equipment in the field of cutting-edge scientific research in various countries. This newly-tuned hybrid magnet device in China is one of the nine magnet devices included in the national “Eleventh Five-Year” major technology infrastructure – the steady-state strong magnetic field test device project.
