Recently, Japan Suzuki Motor Co. announced that Chen, the company has established a joint venture with the British fuel cell development company IE called "SMILE FC System" to develop and manufacture fuel cells. It is reported that the registered capital of the new joint venture is 750 million yen and plans to promote the development of fuel cells in Yokohama Research Laboratory.
The new joint venture is funded by half of the parent companies of Suzuki and IE. Hiroshi Suzuki’s vice president is the president of the new company. Headquartered in Hamamatsu City, the headquarters of the Suzuki company, Suzuki hopes to begin mass production of fuel cell Scooter in 2015 through this cooperation, and plans to promote the implementation of mass production technology in joint ventures.
It is understood that the above two companies are currently jointly developing a two-wheeled vehicle equipped with an air-cooled fuel cell system. As the two-wheeled vehicle equipped with a fuel cell last March was the first to be approved in Europe for mass sales, it was one step ahead of other companies in popularizing air-cooled fuel cells.
The two companies hope to take advantage of the small size and light weight of the two-wheeler to speed up the development of the second-wheeler.
