How to correctly install smart electromagnetic flowmeter

1, the requirements of the installation site

Normal electromagnetic flow sensor housing protection is extremely IP67, all the following requirements for the installation site.

1) When measuring the mixed phase fluid, select the place that will not cause phase separation; when measuring the two-component liquid, avoid installing in the downstream where the mixing has not been uniform; when measuring the chemical reaction pipeline, install it in the downstream of the reaction fully completed segment;
2) Avoid as much as possible negative pressure in the measuring tube;
3) Choose a place with little vibration, especially for integrated type instruments;
4) Avoid large electric motors, large transformers, etc. nearby to avoid electromagnetic interference;
5) It is easy to realize the place where the sensor is grounded separately;
6) Avoid high concentrations of corrosive gases in the surrounding environment as much as possible;
7) The ambient temperature is in the range of -25/-10 to 50/600°C. The temperature of the integral structure is also controlled by the electronic components, and the range is narrower.
8) Avoid direct sunlight as much as possible;
2. Requirements for installing straight sections

First of all, note that the sensor itself cannot serve as a support point for the load. It cannot support the adjacent work pipe and should have the pipe load holding it. In order to obtain normal measurement accuracy, the electromagnetic flow sensor must also have a straight pipe section of a certain length upstream, but its length is lower than that of most other flow meters.

After the 90o elbow, T-tube, concentric reducer and full-opening valve, 5 times the diameter (5D) of the straight pipe section from the sensor's inlet flange connection surface, the valve with different opening needs 10D; the downstream straight pipe segment is (2 ~ 3) D; but to prevent the butterfly valve plate protruding into the sensor measuring tube. The length of upstream and downstream straight pipe sections proposed by various standards or verification regulations is also inconsistent, and some electromagnetic flowmeter requirements are higher than usual. This is due to the requirement to achieve the current level 0.5 accuracy meter.

3, installation location and flow direction

The sensor mounting direction is horizontal, vertical, or inclined (the fluid must flow horizontally or obliquely upwards), without restriction. But make sure that the measuring tube is coaxial with the process piping. The axis deviation should not exceed 2MM. It is best to measure the solid-liquid two-phase fluid vertically and flow from bottom to top.

This can avoid the disadvantages of local wear in the lower half of the liner during horizontal installation, solid phase sedimentation at low flow rates, and the like.

In the welding or flame cutting of the sensor adjacent to the pipeline, isolation measures must be taken to prevent the lining from heating, and it must be confirmed that the instrument converter signal line is not connected, to prevent damage to the converter when the horizontal axis of the electrode is parallel to the horizon, and not perpendicular to the In the horizon, because the electrodes at the ground are easily covered by deposits, the top electrode is easily wiped by the bubbles in the liquid to cover the surface of the electrodes, causing the output signal to fluctuate.
4, the installation of negative pressure piping

Fluoroplastic lining sensors should be used with caution in negative pressure piping systems; positive pressure piping systems should be designed to prevent negative pressures, such as pipe systems with liquid temperatures above room temperature, and the fluid cooling contraction will be negative after closing the upstream and downstream stop valves of the sensor. Pressure, should be installed in the vicinity of the sensor negative pressure prevention valve, there are manufacturers that PTFE and PFA plastic lining used in negative pressure pipe system pressure can be used in 200C, 1000C, 1300C absolute pressure must be greater than for non-conductive pipe, grounding The flange is clamped between the sensor flange and the pipe flange.

5, grounding

The sensor must be grounded separately (ground resistance 10Ω or less). In principle, the separation type should be grounded on the sensor side, and the converter grounding should be on the same grounding point. If the sensor is installed on a cathodic corrosion protection pipeline, in addition to grounding the sensor together with the grounding ring, but also use a thick copper wire (16mm) to bypass the sensor across the connecting flange on the two flanges, so that the cathodic protection current between the sensor isolation.

Sometimes after the stray current is too large, such as leakage current of the electrolytic cell along the electrolyte affect the normal measurement of the EMF, you can take the electrical isolation between the flow sensor and its connected process. This method can also be used when the cathodic protection current affects EMF measurements on pipelines that are also cathodically protected.

Second, the converter and its accessories installation specification  

1. The length of the signal cable between the converter and the sensor must not exceed 50M, and the signal cable must be sheathed with a galvanized tube. If the galvanized pipe is in the air, the galvanized pipe should be reliably grounded with a wire, and the grounding resistance is less than 10 ohms.

2. The power supply is 220v unidirectional alternating current. Air switch is installed inside the meter box. The lightning arrester and the air switch are connected in parallel. The wire comes out of the air switch and is connected to a three outlet.

3, arrester grounding

The length of the arrester ground wire cannot exceed 1M, and the cross-sectional area is more than 6MM square strands of copper insulated conductors. If there is no ground network in the vicinity, a simple net should be made near the arrester. The method is as follows: Three flat steels or angle steels with a length of 1.5M are used to enter the ground in a regular triangle arrangement, and three flat steels are welded together with flat steel bars. , In the corner of the weld bolts, and then connect the lightning arrester ground wire 220V AC lightning protection ground wire ground plane mounting panel.
