The reporter found out that the “test difficulty” of the self-driving vehicle is comparable to that of an ordinary person. It is necessary to pass the basic ability test in the closed field before entering the urban road for the actual “road test”. According to the regulations, the speed of the self-driving vehicle test should be limited to 60 kilometers per hour, and the vehicles that have passed the assessment and fail to reach 80 points will not pass the test.

Recently, the Municipal Communications Commission and the Municipal Economic Information Commission, the Municipal Public Security Bureau Public Security Traffic Management Bureau and other departments issued the "Beijing Autopilot Road Test Capability Assessment Contents and Methods (Trial)" and related technical documents.

According to the documentation requirements, the self-driving vehicle needs to set the corresponding scene during the test. Under normal circumstances, the test scene is daytime, sunny, visibility is more than 500 meters. Most importantly, the speed of self-driving vehicles is limited to 60 kilometers per hour. The self-driving vehicle stops accurately on the ramp (no parking), starts smoothly, and the vehicle must not slip behind. The start time must not exceed 30 seconds.

Emergency handling and manual intervention capabilities are required during the testing phase. The test driver needs to step in and take over the self-driving vehicle anytime and anywhere, and can work normally after intervening in the vehicle. In terms of time, there is also a requirement for manual intervention of autonomous vehicles. The specific provisions are: after manual intervention, the operation time shall not be less than 1 minute. In the case of emergency stop, the driver must not take more than 2 seconds from the automatic driving state to the driver.

In-site testing is divided into 40 items

The reporter noted that the test of the self-driving vehicle in the closed field includes five major assessments, and is refined into 40 small items, and there are many scoring projects. It is necessary to pass all these basic ability tests in order to enter the urban road for the actual “road test”.

In terms of execution ability, including curve driving, right-angle turning, undulating road driving, over-limit wide door, narrow road turning, ramp parking and starting. Among them, the narrow road U-turn time should not exceed 5 minutes; ramp parking and start-up should be completed within 30 seconds.

In terms of comprehensive driving ability, the evaluation standard of autonomous vehicles is much higher than that of ordinary driving tests. It can be said that it is necessary to reach the level of “old driver”. For example, if many novice drivers have a headache and reversing into the warehouse, the time for two entry and exit should not exceed 3.5 minutes; the side parking should not be more than 1.5 minutes.

In addition, autonomous vehicles also need to have extreme weather and special road sections, such as rainy roads, foggy roads, wet roads, and buried roads. Under rainy conditions, autonomous vehicles should sense the surrounding environment and slow down. Or keep the speed and turn on the hazard warning flash.

Automated vehicles not only need to complete the above operations, but also need to participate in the "road test" like ordinary drivers. The self-driving vehicle "road test" evaluation score is 100 points, and the deduction system is adopted. 80 points or more is passed the test.

During the test, the vehicle slipped after the start, the distance was less than 30 cm, and the horn could not be used according to the traffic situation. If the overtaking signal was not allowed to pass after the car was found, the brake would not be smooth, and 10 points would be deducted. In addition, vehicles passing through relatively special areas, such as school areas, should be decelerated to 30 kilometers per hour. Depending on the surrounding situation, vehicles should be allowed to stop when there is a pedestrian.

More strictly, the "examination outline" also has a "one-vote veto" project. When the vehicle starts, the vehicle sneak distance is more than 30 cm; a traffic accident occurs; the road rushes to prevent other vehicles from driving normally; the safety distance and the safe speed cannot be maintained during driving; the traffic signs, marking lines and traffic lights are not used.
