In September, rice in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province entered the harvest period. However, the sudden drop in temperature and continuous rainy weather have affected the ongoing rice harvest. Rice dryers all over the city have come in handy to get food back and get into the warehouse.

This year, Nanchong City has planted more than 2.19 million mu of rice, and the total harvest is expected to reach more than 1.15 million tons. Up till now, rice in the three districts, Peng'an, Yingshan and other places in the south of the city have been basically harvested. However, in the northern part of Yizhong and Yiyi, some rice is still not harvested. According to preliminary statistics, about 70% of the city's rice harvest is completed.

Harvesting of rice is most afraid of rain. One is that rice is easy to fall down and the harvest is reduced. Second, there is no place for drying in time. It is prone to mildew and germination. In order to get farmers' food back and get into the warehouse, this year the Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry made early preparations to coordinate some of the city's agricultural cooperatives and grain production leading enterprises in advance and announced information on rice drying machinery to guide farmers, especially Large grain producers timely use freshly harvested rice for mechanical drying to avoid losses.

In the drying workshop of Hangji Xiangmei Industry Co., Ltd. in Sichuan Province, Xichong County, the mechanical roar has continued for days. Relevant person in charge of the company said that after the company completed its own food drying, it also undertakes drying business.

The Municipal Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Bureau has contacted more than 30 agricultural cooperatives and grain production leading companies that have a certain amount of paddy drying capacity across the city. In total, they can provide 1,100 tons/day of drying capacity. At present, the use of mechanical drying is mainly for agricultural enterprises, agricultural cooperatives, and large owners, and the proportion of retail farmers using mechanical drying is still relatively low. In the future, Nanchong City will step up its efforts to guide more people in the retail sector to mechanically dry rice. The mechanization of agriculture is a requirement of modern agriculture. It can not only effectively reduce losses, but also reduce labor costs.
