The group needs adaptive optics technology to detect and compensate for turbulence disturbances in real time, allowing the telescope to achieve its ultimate performance. At present, all large-diameter solar telescopes in the world are equipped with adaptive optics.

The Solar High Resolution Optical Imaging Technology Team of the Institute of Optics and Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Rao Changhui's Research Team) is mainly engaged in technical research and system development for large-caliber solar telescopes, solar adaptive optics, and solar high resolution tomography. At present, the team has 3 researchers, 8 associate professors and assistant researchers, and more than 10 graduate students. In recent years, it has obtained more than 10 national and provincial-level support projects including major natural science fund projects, key projects, and national high-tech development program projects ("863" program). In the past five years, the research team has published more than 50 papers in major academic journals such as The Astrophysical Journal, Solar Physics, Astronomical Journal, Optical Letters, Optical Express and other international astrophysics and optical engineering fields, including nearly 30 SCI journals; authorized invention patents. Researcher Rao Changhui from the Institute of Optoelectronics Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, led the research team of the high-resolution optical imaging technology of the sun and conducted the first research on solar atmospheric high resolution tomography in China, breaking through the solar adaptive optics (AO) and adaptive optics on the surface ( GLAO), multi-layer conjugated adaptive optics (MCAO), and solar atmosphere multi-band tomography, and a series of key technologies, acquired high-resolution tomographic images of visible light from the solar atmosphere to the near-infrared 7-band. The following figure shows the development of the solar high resolution optical imaging technology. These achievements have made our country in the international advanced level in the high-resolution optical imaging observations of the solar atmosphere. It has important scientific significance and application value for the frontier research of solar physics and space weather forecasting.
